So imagine, one, your skin tells a story and is linked to a lineage of suffering, such a long line of ancestors experiencing the pain and darkness of life, that it swells in your DNA, naturally.
You're succumbed to this faint reminder, in everything you do, that there were those before you that lived a life in agony, a way of life in which no one should live, so you could be here, living the life you dream.
And, it's not because you believe everyday that you are oppressed, but you live on the grounds and share the air in which slaves held in their lungs once before
—a place where equality never heard its own name spoken aloud.
But imagine two, that regardless of this reminder, that your life didn't turn out the way you intended and secrets unfold as you discover a part of yourself you never once tried to get to know.
You're deep in it now, the strong overwhelming desire to get to know more about who you are within your past—people who walked on the same earth, is too powerful to overcome now. So, as you dig, you figure out more about yourself through the stories of those before you.

The Cutting Season is one of my favorites. I recommend it for all that exist in the human race. She shares this feeling that's so intimate—I never thought could be expressed in words, but Attica Locke does it!
Three, it's the perfect Fall/Winter seasonal book to cozy up to on the couch, and deep dive into what is a story about a woman that has so many facets that keep you wanting more.
I absolutely loved getting to know the main character and figure out the mystery left by her and others' life.
So when are you reading?
