Pain does not define us but empowers us, to outlive that pain and prosper. As Shelly-Ann Gajadhar said, we must take this time, to write our victorious future.
We are divinely deep inked, marvelously overflowing in brown pigment. We are melanin abundant. We are rich in our skin and in our spirits, and in the light and life, and in the joy we bring to this earth. -Hakeemah
Let us never forget that.
Let us remember that we are brilliant. We are teachers, leaders, mothers, fathers, nurturers, activists, artists, musicians, CEOs, executives, illustrators, designers, creators, actors, actresses, authors, dancers. We are courageous, we are lovely, we are achievers. Our ancestors would be proud.
Today, we must hold tight, cling to the joy we desire of the future. Let us remember to continue to spread love and joy as we shut out the suggestion that Black-ness is oppression. Let us declare, formulate, forsee, organize, and outline our victorious futures.
Let us educate ourselves, our family, our children by any means necessary. Let us stand together and support and share and supply information to lay foundations for Black success.
Let us stand to educate our friends, our families, our children about who we are, about our expansive intellect influenced by our rich culture, our souls influenced by our experience, our creations influenced by the languages of our ancestors, our beauty that comes in different shades and manifestations.
Let us remind our children and let us remind each other, that we are capable, competent, proficient enough, we are more than enough, more than able to achieve anything we desire to be, to make, to create, to do, to become.
Let us focus on our growing our minds, our spirits, our crafts—our power to manifest. Let us always stand firm, unwavering in our greatness. Our Black-ness is power.
“People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don't know each other; they don't know each other because they have not communicated with each other.” - MLK
So, let us communicate. Let us get to know one another. Let us talk and share with those ready to hear and listen and create change with us.
Let us remember to be inclusive, so that race is known as just humanity.
"Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success." – Henry Ford
Change can occurs, when we stick together. So let us, let you, let him/her/they, let white, brown, black, tan, pale, dark, green, blue, gray, let all support Black dreams, Black education, businesses, artists, creators. Let us build the future we seek, let us create that, now, together.
Let us be patient, while we acknowledge that this change will take years, decades, generations to achieve. Yet, let us remember that it is worth it, in order to create an empowered, unfettered history of Black-ness.
Let’s proclaim to one another how wonderful we are, and can be, and will be. Let us proclaim the change we wish to see, by fulfilling our inconceivable potential.
What we can do now, is tell our sisters to let their kinks fill the room with pride and our brothers to raise their heads high. What we can do now, is educate, encourage, empower, embrace, love, create, develop our future into a victorious one.
Let us be remembered for our creativity, culture, our vigor, capabilities, our strength, so our children’s children can remember how we shaped the future in a way we desired, by simply being who we are and living in our greatness, fulfilling our destinies, and dreams.
I spread positivity, the most unimaginable amount of love, peace, and healing to all of my black, brown, light brown, african american, black american, brown american, sisters and brothers.
-Standing proud in my Blackness and hoping I inspired you to do the same; hoping I've awoken others on how to lift us up in our greatness - Hakeemah.
